So I want to do a cultural night where each of us make something from home. I'm a little lost for ideas because vegetarian burritos with bacon does not sound very australian. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Kangaroo Steaks or Seafood would be good if you can buy it there??? You would have to finish with pavlova or lamingtons which are both Aussie fare. Love Mum

The only other thing is pie and peas as in a pie floater. Not sure what they would make of it though lol. I am so enjoying your blog son, your writing style is fantastic. I can almost see you doing these things. I am so proud of you xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat about an aussie burger with beetroot and pineapple and all the usual salad...my yank friends always freak ot about our burgers especially the Beets and pineapple...
ReplyDeleteI think Pavlova!!!
ReplyDeleteChaps
I think burger and pav. All options were considered but too cold for BBQ, no access to native Australian meat and I dare not touch an American pie. Thanks brains trust.
ReplyDeleteI just have to step in here for a moment and comment before any crazy internet rumours get started.
ReplyDeleteIn spite of what was just said in the last comment, there is really no such thing as too cold to BBQ. Men of North America, it is still safe for you to BBQ no matter how cold it is. Even if it is really, really, REALLY cold you can still get out there and man the BBQ. I assure you that even if it feels like bits and pieces will freeze and fall off, you WILL return to the house with all of your original equipment.
Perhaps they have to stop manning the BBQ in Australia because heat from the BBQ attracts dangerous Australian wildlife like poisonous snakes, crocodiles and rabbits. Here in North America you are safe and are still able to BBQ even if it is a little cold.
HA!HA! Good one, Australian Cappaccino Dude! :)
(That was very nearly an international incident! Pheww! Crisis averted.)
